Truth & Salvage Co. to play Kimmel Live

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Truth & Salvage Co. to play Kimmel LiveAdam Grace, creator of Ringtone and Frozen, will be playing the Jimmy Kimmel Live show — not as a magician, but amusician.

In case you didn’t know, Grace is a freakin’ amazing keyboardist and is currently playing with Truth & Salvage Co. The band’s debut, self-titled album was produced by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes and released in May. The band has been touring in support of it, and that tour includes a stop on Kimmel.

The band said on its Facebook page that they will be playing the show at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16. If you’re in the area, support Adam and the gang — the band is awesome. And here’s hoping the band’s show is aired live on the show.

Wednesdays mystery sale item: Glass

Today’s mystery item is a great effect with a ton of transparent uses: Glass.

Wednesdays mystery sale item: Glass

Created by the ingenious rock star Adam Grace, Glass is a system that lets you manipulate ink from a dry-erase marker on both sides of a piece of glass. Instead of being a one-trick pony, Adam lets you develop your own miracles: The DVD is packed with more than 15 applications and effects. You can melt someone’s initials through glass. You can reveal a card. You can do all kinds incredible, ultra-visual effects.

Those of you who have Ringtone and Frozen know that Adam’s effects are solid. This system is worth the time and effort to learn. It’s practical, mostly clean (hey, dry-erase markers are messy. Not gonna lie), completely examinable and very simple.

For today only, Glass is 40 percent off its usual price. It’s part of the Five 40% Days Sale.

What’s coming tomorrow? Check back then.

This is a great day for Web sites going live. Look what just hit the net.

Truth and Salvage Co. is the latest musical project of Ellusionist artist Adam Grace, (pictured, left) who plays organ and keyboard in the band. The six-man project recently signed to Silver Arrow Records (label of the Black Crowes) through Megaforce Records. Its first album, produced by Chris Robinson, of the Black Crowes, should be released soon.

Until then, the band is touring through California and, from April 14 to 27, will play with Franky Perez for U.S. troops in Iraq. They have three songs available for download on the Web site. Spoiler alert: They rock.

New Gary Jules CD available Tuesday

New Gary Jules CD available TuesdayWhy do we care about the guy who sang that sad, Tears for Fears cover song on the Donnie Darko soundtrack? Because his piano player is Adam-freaking-Grace, that’s why.

“Bird” is the first release for Gary Jules and the Group Rules, Jules’ first organized band. The new CD features nine tracks and will be available on CD Baby and iTunes.

Grace was recently named as a Special Guest of Honor on the venerated Magic Cafe Forums. In addition to creating Frozen and Glass (and Ringtone, soon to be released), he is an actor and musician who has studied at the Juilliard Conservatory. He’s played with Jules, Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan and The Wallflowers. Grace was part of Jules band when “Mad World” broke big in the UK. (I’m not sure that’s Grace in the video.)

For those in the mood for a more upbeat song, and for a good sampling of Grace’s chops, check out “Unknown Hottie” by Even the Sun (may not be very safe for work or school):

The wait is over. The cold front has arrived.

FROZEN by Adam Grace: NOW AVAILABLE

Frozen by Adam Grace is now available for $29.95. And if you’re one of the first 100 to order, you’ll receive a cool blue Ellusionist gaff deck for free — a $29.95 value.

Frozen is an incredible new effect from one of magic’s most creative minds. The effect is simple: All you do is blow on a coin, and it freezes in front of everyone’s eyes. If that’s not mind-blowing enough, click below and watch what happens when you add a napkin:

Some of the Ellusionist Elite forum members got the chance to see an advanced copy of Frozen. See their reviews here, here and here.
