Britney Spears will be sawed in half as part of her upcoming Circus tour, and the magic spectacle will be something akin to Cirque du Soleil.

The news about magician Ed Alonzo assisting Spears has been all over the magic Net the past few weeks. E! Online interviewed Alonzo and got the dish about what kind of role magic will have in her tour:

“We’re going to be doing the classics of magic but a little high-tech,” he said. “We’ll be doing a little dissection, transposition, a vanish, an appearance.”

Alonzo said that Spears will serve as Alonzo’s assistant during the show. He complimented her excitement about learning all the effects and contraptions involved. He didn’t say which songs would be accompanied by which effects, however.

“I made [the tricks] really easy for her, but there are some complicated things that she is doing that you would think a contortionist would have to do, or a trained magician’s assistant. But because she’s a dancer, it really makes sense to put her in the magic, and it works and she’s really, really good at it.”

Special thanks to Goudinov for spotting this.

Hey, it seems to be working for Britney Spears. […]
