San Diego festival a busker’s paradise

San Diego festival a buskers paradiseThe San Diego Union Tribune featured a great report on an outdoor busking festival held last weekend.

The Seaport Village Spring Busker Festival featured 10 acts and three roaming acts, from jugglers to magicians. In its fourth year, the festival attracted acts as far away as Minneapolis and high numbers of spectators. And some of the acts said they were particularly pleased with their hat hauls after their shows.

One of the performers noted that no two shows are alike. But what really stood out was this quote from a musician at the festival:

“When you see it as a source of income, it’s no fun. But when you see it as a joy, and take it in stride, voilà!” said Mitchell Walker, a graphics artist who performs on the didgeridoo, the Australian wind instrument. “This is my joyful thing.”
