Quick hits: Kids teach a card game, new optical illusion, documentary covers magicians better halves

A few quick hits culled from the Net:

  • The Optical Illusions blog has written about a new optical illusion created by Daniella Bresanelli and Manfredo Massironi of the Universities of Padua and Verona. The three shapes all have the same width — in fact, the bottom and middle shapes are identical. More information, including all kinds of tech stuff, is on the blog.
  • If you’re looking for something fun to do with your kids that is educational at the same time, and you want to use some of your decks that are still good for something, try this Valentine’s Day game. The catch is that your kid has to read the rules and teach you.
  • As others have noted, the Documentary Channel will air its much-anticipated “Women in Boxes” on Feb. 9. The show features in-depth looks into the lives of the women behind some of the greatest magicians in the art.
