We love vacation pictures and videos — especially ones filled with magic — and a Columbus, Ohio magician sent us a ton.
Magician Michael Kent recently returned from a tour of U.S. Army bases in South Korea. He visited 10 different bases from Daegu to the 38th Parallel, and since his return, he has posted all kinds of videos from his experience. Eating spicy foods? Check. Finding out that South Korea is not the chocolate capital of the world? Got it.
“It was an incredible 15-day tour on 10 US Army bases,” Kent said. “I was doing college shows and I loved doing them, but I wanted to give back more. These people were so appreciative it was really fulfilling and it became difficult to leave each night.”
Kent closed the tour with a visit to a demilitarized zone base. The Korean Demilitarized Zone (or DMZ) is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. This is the most heavily militarized border in the world. So the security was high and only about 30 people could show up to the gig, Kent said. These men and women don’t leave the base for a full year, so we’re pretty sure they were in deep need of some entertainment.
