Magic disasters: Footage of tricks going wrong

It happens to the best of us. After all of our rehearsals, practice and preparation, something, somehow, can still go wrong. It’s the nature of live performance, and sometimes it’s disastrous. This collection of vids has been making the rounds across the Internet recently. The original author is pretty harsh toward magicians, so we’ll reclaim it with this post and a warning to always consider the safety of yourself and others.

Card Into Window: I’m pretty sure this is a staged video for one of those shows that features a lot of pranks, Candid Camera style. Still, it’s pretty funny.

Magician on Fire: A trick that appears to go wrong, yet the performer keeps his cool after the fire is extinguished, so props for that.

Paper Cup and Knife Trick: This vid is shocking, and has some cussing. The clip itself is not very kind toward magicians. It features two magicians performing the legendary trick: One injures himself, another injures a spectator.

Houdini’s “Buried Alive” stunt: This is footage of two magicians who attempted to emulate Houdini’s famous stunt. One of them was severely injured, the other lost his life.

  1. The Spike Trick Is Stupid. I used to do it until I realized it was shock value, not magic. I want my audiences to feel safe.

  2. Yea this is retarded stunts…I don’t like being scared for the person performing it…its pure stunts and no magic involved…plus being ill prepared for dangerous stunts is crazy…I would never put a spectator at risk…thats why I’ll stick with practical and safe effects.
