Here’s a new feature from the mind of Jason.Michael, one of the longest-running members of our forums. He thought that it would be a good idea to update forum members about what and where they are performing, and how the performances go.
Jason, for instance, came home late Wednesday night (truth be told, early Thursday morning), absolutely stoked from some magic performances he did at a bar. One of the greatest reactions he got was from a bar waitress, who was blown away by the paper balls over the head. Not a diagonal palm shift, not a center deal or Ponta-style coin routine.
“Sometimes I perform the salt shaker through the table and it fries people,” he said last night. “The forum members need to know that this kind of stuff is actually being performed for real people.”
Another long-running member finished a great gig Thursday night. Arvind Jayashankar (pictured, above) performed at a restaurant for a company’s private party. Among the effects he performed: “ACR, 2CM, Heat, a clock effect with vanishing hands, Deck Equivoque, a classic three-card monte, the poker routine from This is Mentalism, The Royal Scam and a floating table effect,” he said. “Even with a very limited repertoire of maybe just three or four effects, I could work an entire evening. And for table hopping that’s more than enough.”
The floating table was a grand finale for everyone in the restaurant, dining customers included, he said. “Everyone there got up and turned around in their chairs to watch,” he said. “It was nuts.”
