I’ve seen Teller do this recently in Vegas. This illusion and Teller are both phenomenal, and Penn too. If you have not seen Penn and Teller live you are missing a REAL phenomenon!

Well, the oft-cited Tolkien never had a cnoereht magic system . Yet, Jack Vance had one for Dying Earth that was co-opted by D&D and that seems to be a bigger influence on modern Epic Fantasy. And Dying Earth magic was actually technology, so that goes back to my magic-systems being more science fictional than fantasy .and yeah, I agree about Miyazaki
