Actress Mia Farrow, who is in the midst of a hunger strike, received fasting advice from a guy who knows what he’s talking about.
The New York Daily News reported that Farrow was contacted by David Blaine, and given advice on how to make it. Among the tips: After six days, she won’t feel a thing, and she should drink up to four liters of water a day.
Farrow is going without food to raise awareness of ongoing genocide in the Sudan region, including political leaders’ dwindling allowances of humanitarian aid. Currently in day three, she plans to live on only water for three weeks. She writes more about the experience on her blog, from which the below video came. She writes:
“What I am going through now is nothing compared to what the poeple of Darfur are facing. As things were, before the humanitarian expulsions, the rations for refugee were barely the minimum caloric requirement to sustain life-1000 calories per day. But soon more than one million people will not receive even that meager ration. The situation is urgent and dire. So, when I feel hunger pangs and my head aches, I think of them.”
This is not an easy thing to do. Magician Daniel Madison tried and failed a similar feat last year (he went for 44 days with a miniscule daily caloric intake). We wish her the best of luck.
