Ellusionist blog gets an upgrade

February 6th, 2011 | Joe Hadsall | Filed Under General

So, whatcha think of our new digs? The Ellusionist blog was upgraded to improve its social network functionality, content and user-friendliness. Here’s a walkthrough of the changes we’ve made:

  • New tabs at the top help you find your favorite posts. You can check out our latest posts, featured posts that are must-read material or some of our most commented posts, which include pictures of a hot Kim Wyatt and a stubbly pic of Criss Angel’s beard. Ah, memories.
  • Facebook and Twitter functionality is built right in. You can log in with your Facebook name, making it that much easier to post comments. It’s also easier than ever to like or tweet what you see here.
  • More room for bigger videos and pictures. You’ll squint less, and that’s a good thing. That also gives us an excuse to share more videos, and that’s a better thing.
  • Fewer things on the side column. That means the blog will load up faster than it has in the past.
  • More interactivity and more content. Though we’ll keep you up to date on the latest doings in the magic world and our latest products, our trained wordmonkeys have planned a bunch of unique features, articles and podcasts so that you’re reading fresh stuff, not yesterday’s news.

Let us know what you think: Leave your comments below. And to show you what we mean about bigger videos, here’s one of the winners in our recent Arcane Gaff contest. Dave Maze claimed a pretty big prize with his spin on the iPhone card.

  1. werry nice trick!

  2. Very Nice!. did anyone notice he did rizer before hand. its still on his arm!

  3. I like the new look. I have one complaint though. Would someone please change the second line of the introduction to read “The Elusionist blog has UNDERGONE an upgrade… (Replace the solopsism underwent)
It is not a picayune point. If language is incorrectly used on a public site, for whatever reason-carelessness or ignorance, surely readers have good reason to think that other parts of the publication or business may also have a cavalier attitude toward its business. Your public image is on display here. Make the first impression worthy of the business you represent. Thank you.

  4. Whoops! My bad, Peter. I’m known as E’s grammar nerd, so I’m embarrassed I missed that. Actually, that’s such an inactive, terrible verb that I changed it completely. And, by the way, thank you for showing why we grammar nerds are no fun at parties. 😉

  5. Thanks Joe. I am a retired English teacher who dabbles in magic. I know we grammar nerds are fighting a losing battle against “texting”, “messaging”,abbreviated spelling and other attitudes towards language that seem so pervasive today, that we are in danger of being washed away in the rising tide of medoicrity. I am a fan of George Orwell who warned against the debasement of language as the first step toward totalitarianism. Few people read Orwell any longer. Pity. Thanks for your prompt reply. Hey, we grammar nerds can do magic as well. Some people might well believe that’s sort of nerdy too. Not me of course.

  6. No shame in being nerdy. In fact, it’s kind of in fashion right now. These are good days for geeks. :)

And, if it makes you feel better, know that the trained wordmonkeys behind the E blog know the difference between its and it’s; your and you’re; to, too and two; affect and effect; farther and further; and we can even hit you with the proper ways to use because, due and since.

Of course, there should probably be a lot more quotation marks in that last paragraph. But my right pinky has done enough work for one night.

    Keep fighting the good fight!

Magnificent goods from you, man. I’ve bear in mind your stuff prior to and you are just too excellent. I really like what you have bought right here, certainly like what you’re stating and the best way through which you say it. You are making it entertaining and you still care for to keep it smart. I can’t wait to read far more from you. This is actually a wonderful web site.
