And now, for some of the most random bullet points we’ve had in a while:
- This is one vanish of which a Utica magician would like to know the method. Jeff Sterling left about $2,000 worth of props on a side porch of his home, where they were stolen on Tuesday. Among the items: His wands, a rubber hot dog and sponge bananas. Adding insult to injury: Dude has a show this Friday. “I’ll get by. I’ll do a good show Friday,” he said.
- A group of magicians is holding a show to raise funds for a Habitat for Humanity house. This report from WFMZ-TV details a fundraising magic show being held in Reading, Penn.
- If you’re a sci-fi geek like me, then you’d probably get chills from seeing the headline, “Magicians turn themselves into trekkers.” Goosebumps on your arm already, eh? Not Trekkers, but trekkers — a crew of British magicians and entertainers have begun a 100-mile hike across the country to raise money for a leukemia charity. Led by a 7-foot-tall bunny rabbit, the crew should reach the Magic Circle HQ in London this Sunday.
- Magician Wayne Kawamoto discusses magic and the H-one-N-one… h2h1html… swine flu virus. He shares some of his thoughts about performing for those who might be sensitive to passing around contagion. He makes some good use of hand sanitizer in his show, and if swine flu doesn’t convince you to stop doing that kissing-on-the-cheek-whoops-on-the-lips gag, then — frankly — you’re beyond help.
