Bullets: Magic circus, broken record, charitable magician, cell phone marriage

Now that the Fourth of July’s fireworks are over, all we have left are the bullets. Instead of catching them like Penn & Teller, we’re going to catch them up like someone who should have been blogging more last week:

  • The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey’s new magic-themed circus has begun its rounds. “Zing Zang Zoom” features traditional circus elements around a magic theme. The show is led by “zingmaster” Alex Ramon
  • A few weeks ago, we told you about a Singapore duo’s attempt to break a world record. JC Sum and “Magic Babe” Ning set out to perform 15 grand illusions in five minutes. Short version: They did it last week. Congrats!
  • Found over at iTricks: A lead on an 89-year-old magician who brings charity to a new level. According to a correspondent for the St. Petersburg Times, Clearwater, Fla. magician Bill Kahn has performed magic shows and given all of his profits to nonprofit organizations. He gets a tip of our top hat, even though we don’t wear those.
  • Blogger Kim Ong said the new partnership between magician Cyril Takayama and Sony Ericsson cell phones is more like a marriage. Hard not to believe her, judging from some footage taken at a recent Sony event. The vid below features a slick production. Ong reports that Cyril emerged from that cell phone screen during the presentation.

Who does not love Cyril! That dude has some sick skills regardless of how little magic he might show in this clip. I hung out with him in Beverly Hills last year and he blew my freaking mind!! Big time… with pure dexterity and polish… Extreme polish. http://www.richferguson.com/images/cyril.jpg
